Ford Motors Files Trademark Application for G.O.A.T. Modes
As the automobile industry is flourishing globally, car manufacturers every month try to come up with flashy and attractive names. The present day automobile-naming strategy can be decoded as keeping the classic name as long as possible. The golden approach behind naming cars is adopting common names easily acceptable around the world as compared to running a search for multiple words. In point of fact, various car makers use numbers on their futuristic models rather than naming them differently each time.
Stating a common fact, this brings along a notable increase in the number of trademark registrations as well. Customarily, all the cars are usually registered under Class 12 as includes Vehicles. Various car manufacturers also apply for protection against several classes including Class 07 for car motor and engine, Class 09 for the car batteries, Class 11 for the headlights whereas Class 37 for repairs, in addition to, Class 39 for providing rental services, depending upon every manufacturer or dealer. Commenting on this trademark expansion, Russ Clark, General Manager in the automobile-giant General Motors commented, “In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space, today there are 800,000.” He added, “It’s tough.”
Always surprising the public by launching unique and eye-catchy car models consisting of remarkable technological features, Ford kept its legendary history tale this time as well. Founded by the honored Henry Ford on June 16, 1903, Ford presently is the top 2nd largest automobile manufacturer in the States and 5th largest in the world.
On March 25, Ford filed a trademark application for registration of “G.O.A.T Modes” under the description, “drive systems comprised of automatic controls for vehicle chassis and power train controllers, integrated as an integral part of a passenger vehicle” before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and was subsequently granted application number 88847575 by the Authority.
The acronym G.O.A.T. is not new for the sports savvy as it merely translates to “Good of All Times” and such is used for off-driving road systems, empowering vehicles to function on difficult terrains. It is noted by some specialists in the field that accommodating this technology, Broncho and Broncho sports are most likely to be benefitted by the registration.
This 116-year old car-maker brand is tight-lipped about giving in any other details about this upcoming surprise. The present status with regards to the application displays, “New application-Record Initialized Not Assigned to Examiner.”
